The simple yet modern USB connector

The full form of a USB connector is Universal Serial Bus connector. This new age product was originally designed for personal computers, but is now widely seen on other devices such as digital cameras, PDAs, and flash drives. It is well worth knowing, that a connector of this genre, implements the directed topology of a USB network.
USB was conceptualized to permit more than one peripheral to be connected using a single exchangeable interface socket, and to improve the plug and play capacities in general. Achieving the latter, by permitting devices to be connected and disconnected without rebooting the computer, is the hallmark of USB. A USB connector is quite reliable, and considered particularly cheap to manufacture. The said connector is robust in nature, and cannot be plugged in upside down.
A USB connector has kept pace with all recent developments, and this is well emphasized in the USB specification. The original USB specification for this variety of connector, detailed Standard-A and Standard-B plugs and fittings. The former is approximately 4 by 12 mm, while the latter is around 7 by 8 mm. Changing times have necessitated the entry of different connectors, such as Mini-B, Micro-B, Micro-A, Micro-AB, and Micro-USB, within the ranks of a USB connector. In this, the last named is rated for up to 10,000 connect-disconnect cycles or more, and is meant to replace the Mini-USB connector.
Last but not the least, the performance and acceptance of any given connector, be it USB or otherwise, is gauged by the three vital factors of durability, usability, and compatibility. It is common knowledge that a USB connector scores many brownie points over the competition, on all the three counts.
