The true worth of a fiber optic connector

A fiber optic connector or optical fiber connector as it is commonly referred to as, is a product which terminates the end of an optical fiber. Fiber optics is a technology that uses specially contrived bundles of crystal clear fibers to transmit light, and an optical fiber is a part of this scenario. This gives us a clear understanding of what a fiber optic connector is all about. In short, the fiber optic connectors mechanically couple and align the cores of fibers so that light can pass.
It is a well known fact, that different types of fiber optic connectors showcase different advantages and disadvantages, as also different features. The performance criteria and or parameters of this breed of connectors too, differ according to the type of fiber optic connector used. Having said this, there is one thing in common about all the different types of fiber optic connectors, and that is their basic composition. All the different connectors, which form a part of fiber optic connector, have the same four basic components. These are the Ferrule, the Connector Body, the Cable, and the Coupling Device.
The above mentioned connector, namely fiber optic connector, is a very useful product, and one which is widely used. With manufacturers the world over, having modified and standardized the delivery concept of this variety of connector, it comes as no surprise that the given move, has had a positive impact on the use of fiber optic systems. Some of the common fiber connectors include the Ferrule connector, the Enterprise Systems Connection or ESCON, the Mechanical Transfer, and the Fiber Distributed Data Interface or FDDI.
Finally, it will not be wrong to say, that the different fiber optic connector types, are as diverse as the applications for which they were developed.
