A basic fiber optic system is made up of a transmitting device, an optical fiber cable, and a receiver. In the set up mentioned above, the job of a transmitting device is to essentially generate the light signal. Next in line comes the optical fiber cable, which performs the business of carrying the light. Last but not the least, is the all important task of accepting the light signal transmitted, and this is carried out by the receiver.
