Vertical Cable Management Channel 4-Pack

February 23, 2017

Fullerton California - We are pleased to announce the new 40” Vertical Cable Management Channel  available in a 4-Pack. (No. ICCMSC40BK)

ICC’s 40'' vertical cable management channel costs 40% less than a traditional 7ft metal channel and is designed to be stacked and mounted on the left or right sides of 2-post and 4-post distribution racks.  It can also be installed in between racks to join them together.  Latches on the front can swivel open allowing large amounts of cable to be fed through and preventing them from falling out.  Covers snap onto the channel to conceal cables and provide a neat and clean appearance.  Compared to tall and single-piece channels, we have built them 40 inches high to help prevent damage during shipping, lower shipping cost, and make it easier to handle.  Four channels with covers are packaged together in a single box.

Terminated IDC vs. Soldered Joint

June 20, 2014

Fullerton, California - IDC (Insulation Displacing Connectors) termination is the preferred method for terminating wires for voice or data connectivity; such as 66 blocks and 110 systems. ICC insists on IDC termination for connecting Telco connectors to a 25-pair cable because the connections have excellent performance and high reliability. The terminals have spring properties that hold the wires in a stable mechanical condition.

Manual soldering can be inconsistent and subject to failure as a result of mechanical or temperature stresses. A cold-soldered joint is caused by improper heating of solder may not conduct at all or only intermittently. An overheated solder will burn the flux, destroy its effectiveness and the solder will not enter the joint properly. A dry joint is caused by movement during the soldering process which can develop cracks in the jointed area leading to i ntermittent conductivity. Many solders still contain lead which is hazardous to the environment.

The bottom line is that ICC Telco Cables perform better and cost 20% less.

EZ-FOLD Wall Mount Bracket

Wall Mount Bracket is an alternative to the heavier and pricier wall mount racks. It provides similar functionalities – to mount panels and equipment in a confined space – with less cost. The traditional wall mount bracket is too bulky to store and it is costly to ship because of the size of its fixed arms. Some manufacturers attempted to reduce the space by folding two arms with hinges only to create another deficiency – weak arms. Two arms are needed to have enough strength to support heavy panels, cables and expensive equipment and hinging the arms makes it dangerous to bear extra weight. By hinging two arms, it also sways the entire bracket and makes it unstable.

The EZ-FOLD Wall Mount Bracket is designed differently. It can be folded to only 2.5 inches in height and installers can easily stack them in the truck or store them in small spaces. When it is unfolded, the arms will extend to 15 inches to accommodate most of the equipment, panels, and plenty of cable storage space. The EZ-FOLD has two hinges for folding purposes.

Once it is unfolded and securely mounted, the two hinges do not bear weight anymore. Both arms are supported by stud or backboard mounting screws. The weight limit is also strengthened by the double-row screw mounting.

Additional features:
• Available in 2, 4, 6 and 8 rack unit sizes
• Divided hinge allows easy access every 2 RU
• Heavy duty 16 gauge steel
• Bridge lances everywhere for cable ties
• Optional cover for top and bottom

ICC is a leading manufacturer of commercial and residential structured cabling products governed by strict ISO 9001:2008 standards. ICC is committed to product quality (registered ISO 9001-2008), and providing high performance solutions at affordable prices.

Keeping up with today\'s technical demands
Keeping up with today\'s technical demands

Green Lake County is at the southern end of the “New North” region which is northwest of Milwaukee. The county is surrounded by acres of agriculture, lakes and industrial operations. The perimeter of the county is sandy beaches, wooded shorelines and historic resorts. There is a lot of history in this small town and since the 1830s; the county has grown in many ways. For a county of just 20,000, this new building is centralized and the residents can come to one building to take care of everything. There is no need to travel to one town to another just to take care of one issue; it can all be done there.

The Green Lake County Government Center is the newest and biggest building in Green Lake County. This building is the city hall and government facility with voice and data equipment installed and ready to go. There are over 200 workstations that are equipped with voice and data in just this one building. Workstations are used for everyday office duties, such as email, internet access and phone calls. The Green Lake center is used for the Heath and Human Services division and is also used by both the local Sheriff office as the dispatch control center, as well as the county jail. Moreover, the building is also used as a learning and disability center, As well as the center for the circuit court, the sheriff department and emergency services, so a robust and secure infrastructure is a must.

The site consists of Category 6 components, including a thousand CAT 6 High Density modular connectors, thirty CAT 6 48-port patch panels, over one hundred thousand feet of CAT 6 UTP riser premise cable and fifteen hundred pieces of CAT 6 patch cords. They also used cable management products such as 7-foot 2-post distribution racks and finger ducts throughout the state of the art communication rooms. “The main terminal space had forethought and provides lots of room for expansion, rather than a closet where every one is scratching their head wondering where they’re going to fit everything. The main distribution frame (MDF) area has seven full sized distribution racks with room for more. The intermediate distribution frame (IDF) location I saw also had room for expansion, despite four racks in it as well.” Don Lagrave, National Sales Manager of ICC. The site now consists of over 1400 CAT 6 HD modular connectors. While cable runs were close to maximum lengths allowed by the TIA/EIA standards, all channels tested out with not only “pass”, but with good margins. This site is also certified with Lifetime Warranty.

The project was installed by Reliable Cable of Appleton Wisconsin, contracted by High Tech Electrical Services and procured through Crescent Electric, uses ICC structured cabling solution. Reliable Cable is a pronounced low voltage installer in Wisconsin. Reliable Cable started with Bill DeHart, owner and president. He has been a part of this industry for eight years and has a total of 4 technicians including him. “I chose ICC because I’ve had a long good standing relationship with ICC. I use their products because I am familiar with it and I can install it with confidence,” Bill DeHart, President of Reliable Cable, said. “I was able to save more than 35 % on materials for this entire project. Based on all the testing we had, ICC was able to save us money and did not sacrifice any performance on their materials,” Bill DeHart said.

ICC manufactures commercial and residential structured cabling solutions governed by strict ISO 9001:2000 standards; offering high-quality voice, data, audio, video, and fiber optic products. Since 1984, ICC has been offering end-to-end structured cabling solutions for data, voice, audio, video, and fiber optic connectivity for commercial and residential installations. ICC offers tens-of-thousands of modular connectors, faceplates, patch panels, patch cords, UTP cable, cable management racks, fiber optic solutions, raceway solutions, residential Net.Media Centers, and lots more.

“This is the first time we are using ICC products and I am very happy with the outcome and the installation,” Bill Hutchison, Green Lake County IT Director, said.

Cabling a New Framework at The Orthopedic Center of Central Virginia

(Lynchburg, Virginia) – Even during today’s tough economic times, Central Virginia Communications has continued to excel due to their commitment to providing outstanding customer satisfaction. They not only maintain a high level of professionalism and technical service, they require it of their suppliers as well. CVC did not find it difficult to make ICC their sole structured cabling product line provider. ICC’s dedication to providing superior service, premium quality products at affordable prices and their loyalty to contractors is what made the decision so easy. Central Virginia Communications’ Sales Manger says, “It’s the outstanding feedback from customers and our very own technicians that keep us installing the ICC product line.” For Central Virginia Communications’ latest project, The Orthopedic Center of Central Virginia, they knew ICC would meet all of their installation demands and help the installation run smoothly. Central Virginia Communications constructed the 85,000 square foot medical facility’s entire network infrastructure into three telecommunications rooms. All three rooms were connected to medical equipment, telephones, computers, multi-media, computer-telephony and patient therapy environments. The installation utilized ICC’s distribution racks, cable management and Category 6 (CAT 6) components. ICC’s light weight, durable and easy-to-install distribution racks were the perfect choice for the large installation. All the distribution racks were floor mounted using ICC’s floor mounting kit. Within the framework CVC installed ICC’s CAT 6 EZ high performance patch panels. The 110 IDC termination design allowed amble space for the cable routing and the single-row pair wiring design required no splitting of pairs, making the termination process quick and easy. Added benefits to using ICC’s CAT 6 EZ patch panels were their backwards compatibility with lower category-rated products and ability to support any type of installation requirement. CVC explained, “All racks are “easy-patch”, meaning one can easily move computer and telephone clients by simply moving a patch cord. All equipment was installed to be easily accessed by [staff members]—from the ICC ladder rack down to the lowest shelf on each rack.” To ensure the proper function of CVC’s “easy-patch” system, CVC used ICC’s multi-media blank patch panels and slim-line booted patch cords. All the blank patch panels were integrated with ICC’s CAT 6 modular connectors. Within a typical channel, patch cords are commonly considered the weakest link. However, because ICC’s CAT 6 patch cords are engineered with 50 micro-inch gold plated contacts, CVC knew they’d deliver maximum performance. CVC said, “99.999% of the ICC runs tested [perfectly] the first time!” ICC’s dual-sided horizontal and vertical finger duct panels were used to route and organize the infrastructure’s cabling. The vertical ducts were used in-between the racks to support vertical cabling while the horizontal ducts were used in-between each patch panel to follow the standard network rack design. To support the backbone cabling, Central Virginia Communications used ICC’s 10 foot and 5 foot ladder rack runways, ceiling rods and swivel butt splices. Removable covers were added to provide the finishing touches and made the entire installation aesthetically clean and professional. As ICC Certified Technicians, Central Virginia Communications was able to offer the ICC 30-Year Certified Site Cabling System Warranty. By doing so, The Orthopedic Center of Central Virginia, knew their cabling installation would be reliable and continue to operate at peak performance. Today, CVC’s quality installation is successfully supporting the Orthopedic Center’s patients and employees. During these tough times, ICC helps Central Virginia Communications, as well as thousands of other contractors to grow and profit. ICC’s continuous offering of premium quality products and service play a key part in the award-winning success of Central Virginia Communications; who has recently been nominated for “Company of the Year”. CVC’s Sales Manager says, “Everyone benefits from ICC’s premium quality and reliable structured cabling systems.” For over 20 years ICC has been a leading manufacturer of structured cabling products in both commercial and residential markets governed by strict ISO 9001:2000 standards; offering high-quality voice, data, audio, video, and fiber optic products. ICC is committed to offer premium quality products with proven performance, at affordable prices. For more information about ICC’s structured cabling products, call us at 888-ASK-4-ICC (275-4422).
